What kinds of plants or flowers do well in a shaded area?

Add ferns of all kinds, camelias, Japanese maples, impatients, toad lilies, and cast iron plants to these other excellent choices

What kinds of plants or flowers do well in a shaded area?
I have Cladiums and spider lillies and ginger around my house in the shade they are gorgus.A good Annual is Bigonias in the shade.
Reply:bleeding heart, foxglove, columbine, viburnum, impatiens and some violas are my favorites.
Reply:For perenials I love hostas. They have so many variations of leaf sizes and color and they last all season etc. They are easy to care for, put slug stuff down early and every couple of weeks. Impatients are a nice annual flower for shade. They now come in many different sizes and colors so look around if you decide on these. I also have a wonderful bleeding heart that has done great with moderate shade.
Reply:Rhododendrons and azaleas are my favorite.
