What kind of outside flowers grow well without sunlight?

Some shade loving plants do bloom: Columbine, Bleeding Heart, Bergenia, Hellebore...

The problem is, plants need sunlight to produce those sugars needed for big, bright, bold flowers. So, if you can re-think your strategy and consider the shade garden as a foliage over flowers kind of space, you can grow some great plants with good color in the leaves. Try: Japanese Aralia, Ferns, Heuchera, Tiarella, Hosta, Forest Grass, Acuba, and Mondo Grass. Then you can add small splashed of color with the above mentioned annuals.
